GENERAL INFORMATION ON FLAG FOOTBALL

FLAG PRACTICE SCHEDULE:

There will be 3 practices per week (max 1.5 hours each) between start of practice and start of the Flag playing season. When the season starts, practice is limited to two 1.5 hour sessions per week in addition to the Saturday game.

FLAG FOOTBALL OVERVIEW:

The Scottsdale Pop Warner is committed to the development of our sport throughout our community. This commitment starts with out flag football program. Our flag program was established as a way to teach our youngest players (age 5-7) the basic rules, skills and playing fundamentals of our sport, while limiting the amount of contact involved.

Flag teams are allowed to start practice on August 6, 2012. Flag practices are limited to 1.5 hours in duration, and are limited to three practices a week until the week of their team’s first game when practices change to two 1.5 hour sessions per week. The first game of the season normally starts around the third week in September.

Scottsdale Pop Warner provides each team with footballs; flag belts and numbered game jerseys. Participants provide their own pants, shoes, and athletic supporter. Protective equipment and hats are prohibited.

Since flag football is an entry-level program, most of the coaches and cheer instructors are parents of children on the team. This is a great opportunity for you to get involved on the ground floor of what we hope will be a long and rewarding football experience for your child. We would like to encourage you to “get involved” and help make this a positive experience for the participants.
